Welcome to the CONVERSATIONS 2026 symposium on chatbots and human-centred AI, November 23-25, at University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Participation is free of charge and the symposium is highly recommended for anyone wanting keep up with this rapidly evolving research area. See our Call for Papers.
Paper submission deadline: September 5. All accepted research papers (full and short) are published in a Springer LNCS symposium proceedings (final confirmation pending).
On-site presentation, on-site and online audience: All paper presenters will participate on-site at the University of Amsterdam. The symposium will be streamed for online access to the presentations and contribution to discussions.

Contribute to the symposium
You are invited to consider the following submission categories.
- Full papers (12-16 pages) presenting new knowledge from research involving empirical studies, theoretical contributions, or innovative implementations.
- Short papers (6-8 pages) presenting preliminary research results from emprical studies or innovative implementations.
- Position papers and project presentations: Brief presentations (3-6 pages) of ongoing projects, work in progress, or perspectives on chatbot research and practice.
- Doctoral consortium extended abstracts: Submissions (3-6 pages) to the research escalator sessions of the doctoral consortium November 23, for PhD students and early phase researchers.
Full and short papers will undergo a thorough double blind review process involving three independent reviewers. Position papers and project presentations will undergo single blind review. Doctoral consortium extended abstracts will be selected in a juried process.
Publication process
Accepted full and short papers are published in the Springer LNCS proceedings (post-event)
Accepted position papers and project presentations will be made available at the symposium website.

Symposium host
CONVERSATIONS 2026 is hosted by University of Amsterdam, School of Communication Research. The symposium is also supported by SINTEF, through the Horizon Europe project THEMIS 5.0, by CERTH, through the Elliot mobility programme, and by the University of Oslo, through its research group AI Democracy.
